UEFA Financial fair-play: nine clubs sign settlement agreements

The Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) Investigatory Chamber  announced, on May 16th 2014, that the nine clubs, for which investigations were opened following non-compliance with Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations, have individually agreed to settlement agreements.

These agreements are aimed at ensuring each club achieves break-even compliance with minimal delay, and are defined by Articles 14 (1) (b) and 15 of the Procedural Rules governing the CFCB.

Platini on the topic of TPO: “some players are no longer in control of their own sporting careers”

In his address to the XXXVIII Ordinary UEFA Congress which took place on Thursday 27 March 2014 in Astana, Kazakhstan, UEFA President Michel Platini was unequivocal on the topic of third-party ownership (TPO) of players. He said that this is "a problem which particularly worries [him]. I have been constantly warning for years that this practice – which is becoming increasingly widespread – is a danger to our sport.

Arbitration at the Court of arbitration for sport - Seminar in Mexico 28 april 2014

This CAS conference, the first to be organised in Latin America, is intended to introduce the role of the CAS in the field of sports-related arbitration to a large audience of lawyers. The directive concerning the pursuit of television broadcasting activities authorises the Member States to prohibit the exclusive broadcasting of events which they deem to be of major importance for society, where such broadcasts would deprive a substantial proportion of the public of the possibility of following those events on free television.

Vers une interdiction de la propriété de joueurs de football par des tiers ?

Le 18 mars 2013, par la voix de son Secrétaire général, Gianni INFANTINO, l'UEFA s'est prononcée en faveur d'une interdiction globale du mécanisme de la propriété des joueurs de football par des tiers. Ce mécanisme de financement des clubs est apparu il y a plusieurs années en Amérique du Sud et gagne aujourd'hui tous les championnats de football dans le monde. Une interdiction de ce système plongerait nombre de clubs sud-américains dans une crise sans précédent puisque c'est, ni plus ni moins, leur modèle économique qui disparaîtrait.
